Mobiles are wireless

So the last thing you want to do is plug accessories into them that’ll leave wires trailing everywhere, getting tangled up and generally getting in the way. This is especially true of headphones, which have an uncanny knack of writhing away in your pocket whilst your not using them, so that when you pull them out to listen to some tunes on the train, you’ve first got to spend half an hour teasing them out of the knotted mess they’ve become. Until, that is,  the advent of stereo Bluetooth. With a stereo Bluetooth enabled set of wireless headphones, like the new Jabra Halo, you can kiss goodbye to your corded-conundrums and get straight to the stereo quality music. Accessorize

Smartphones are on the rise and with them the need for accessories. Those huge, bright touhscreens can do some serious damage to battery life, as can using your Android as a WiFi hotspot, so additional batteries and innovative charging solutions are a must. You’ll also want to protect the display from the ravages of the keys in your pocket, or from scraping along the ground when you drop it, making cases and screen protectors invaluable. Smartphones are effectively miniature PCs,  but the moment you stick one to the side of your head to take a call, all that added functionality counts for nothing. Use a Bluetooth headset, though,  and you’ll still be able to refer to emails and search postcodes whilst you talk. Samsung’s new HM3100 is designed to complement the Galaxy S in terms style and features, but, thanks to built-in noise reduction / cancellation, and automatic volume control which adjusts for background noise and / or signal strength, it’ll give you excellent voice quality whichever handset you pair it to – which is easier than ever thanks to Active Pairing. Multipoint means that it’ll pair to two phones simultaneously (there’s a joke in that somewhere…), and usability is excellent with dedicated battery level indicator and power switch. Samsung Galaxy S

The best Android phone on the market?

Struggling to get your hands on the HTC Desire? Join the club – they’re as rare as rocking horse… <ahem> leavings at the moment, and not just because they’re popular… but that’s another story. Samsung may have contributed to the problem, but they’ve come up with such a cracking solution that all is forgiven. The Samsung Galaxy S is arguably the finest Android phone on the market. It’s lightning fast, boasting a 1GHZ processor and more RAM and ROM than just about anything else out there; it records video in HD (720p) at 30 frames per second; but pride of place has to go to the giant 4.0 inch Super AMOLED 480 x 800 16 million colour screen. With Android 2.2 on the way this phone is only going to get better; call Pink Connect today to get the best tariff on the best phone for your business.

RIM's sleek new offering

The BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 has arrived! It boasts all the functionality of its larger brethren, but with an appealingly small form-factor, allowing it to fit easily into your pocket. It’s great for those who disliked the querty or Sure Type variants too: this handset works more like a traditional candybar, with text input handled by either multitap or predictive modes. Talk to Pink Connect today and save money on your business tariff.

Phone and internet bills decreasing

ORIGINAL PRESS ASSOCIATION ARTICLE HERE

The cost of telephone and internet services is falling, according to the communications regulator.

The average household spend on fixed-line, mobile, internet and broadband services fell last year, with fixed-line down from £23.49 to £22.26, mobile down from £33.98 to £32.04, and internet and broadband down from £11.37 to £10.71, Ofcom’s The Consumer Experience Report found.

The report put the fall in mobile charges down to the increasing popularity of low-cost SIM-only contracts, especially among younger consumers, while falling broadband prices were driven by bundled services.

The report said the proportion of homes with mobile phones has risen from 91% to 93% while fixed-line services remain stable at 87%.

More than one in 10 consumers (13%) rely solely on their mobile phone and do not have a fixed-line connection. More people are using the internet at home, with take-up rising from 65% to 73%.

While 96% of home internet connections are via broadband, 64% of broadband customers did not know their connection speed.
Ofcom said satisfaction with communications services remained high, with levels of at least 86%.

Among the problems the regulator said it wished to address were so-called “not-spots” for mobile and broadband, which are a problem in some rural areas, particularly in Scotland and Wales. It said making progress on these would be a priority for 2010/11.

Making sure switching bundled services is not unnecessarily difficult will also be a priority.
